Singaporeans living overseas enjoy the best of both worlds. High standard of
living, low cost of living plus being treated well unlike if you live in Sg.

I returned from Melbourne last Sunday and on the way to the airport I saw an
advertisement by the road for a Jaguar XF drive away at AUD 74,999. At this
price you can only pay for a certificate to buy a car valid for ten years on our
Sg roads. And many houses selling at AUD 1M are so much better than our condo
units here with 99 years lease at equivalent price.

I know their public education is free till year 12 which is
our A level, although non-citizens are now not eligible for free interest loan
to study in university, as PR they are paying the same school fees as citizens
which differs from overseas students.

If you visit their wholesale market, the vegetables and seasonal fruits are
very much cheaper buying in larger quantity.

Go see yourself and compare our Pasir Panjang wholesale centre and theirs, we
are short changed by our gov due to high rental cost.

Even their quality tuition centre is cheaper as they only pay for the wages
of the tutors as they can use school facilities at very minimal cost during
weekends.

To encourage more citizens to give birth, the Oz government gives out several
thousands irrespective of your income and background, followed by allowances to
raise the child depending on your family income.

That is quite effective in promoting population growth with patriotism.

Some of my friends told me their friends living in Canada or USA also feel
the same i.e. higher living standard with lower cost of living. Or put it this
way, they have the option of choosing to live at lower cost of living if they
want to.

In a nutshell, other governments are treating overseas Singaporeans better
than the Sg government is treating Sg citizens in Sg because of our government’s
style of operating which is like a business
corporation.

The grass is of a different shade here…

I am not a quitter, the reason we moved is purely due to the schooling system
– I can’t bear to see my only child pushed into the technical stream just
because the child was playful when sitting for PSLE.

Do young Singaporeans have a future in
Singapore?

As a mother, I know my child can and deserves more that just the technical
stream.

My child was put into the technical stream for a good 3 years and in each
year, my child performed well but was not encouraged to be transferred to the
normal stream citing that my child would not be able to cope.

Well, this is very wrong indeed. Being in the technical stream for 3 years,
my child was accepted into a mainstream school in Australia. Yes, it was a
struggle for the child to learn and cope with all the “new’ subjects that the
child wasn’t familiar with. I can proudly say that my child has completed year
12 – equivalent to A Levels in Singapore.

The move was significant for my child to ensure learning capabilities are not
discouraged and thrown into the dark world.

It is sad but true that the social stigma associated with being in ITE,
Normal Technical are seriously daunting.

In Australia, you too have such education levels, like TAFE, such
institutions are well received and students are often given an opportunity to be
sponsored by organisations.

I am glad I made the move, not because I want to own a car or house, but as a
mother and parent to our child, it is important that we provide the right
platform for growth and our child’s future when sadly the country we were birth
related to couldn’t care less.

We are not North Koreans though leegime has many similarities with the Kim dynasty.
Sinkies are well educated and well travelled but still behave like naive frogs in well.

Not happy fuck off......pap's message is clear.......

many many burmese and pinoy and chinese indonesians willing and begging to take your fucking place........

Things may be cheaper but u need a good job or source of income. Same also in Singapore, if u earn 5 figure salary life is good.

The difference in oz is that even a food court cleaner earn a decent salary. A typical food court cleaner pay is AUD$21 an hour, a Macca's worker about AUD$19 an hour.

There are many perfectly happy Singaporeans right here. It's no use comparing Singapore with other countries. Good luck to the quitters. Enjoy your overseas stint. But don't return and fuck your own motherland, fatherland and your place of birth.

I am perfectly happy here like many of my kakis. We may not have big houses , big cars and big land, but we are happy as Singaporeans. Thanks to our great government and great leadership. Singapore is safe and clean...and secured. People are begging to come in and your quitters are crying to get out. Those who want to quit and crying to quit are utter failures - losers who want to seek refuges elsewhere.

I admire those who stay on and fight the battle to survive under severe stress and trying conditions. Those who quite are butter and softies.

Well done true blue Singaporeans!!! Majulah Singapura!!! Happy Sunday Singapore to ALL my fellow Singaporeans!!!

stay there and please don't return to pollute our society....good luck!
money! money! money!

no sense of pride, no sense of patriotism, and no sense of national sacrifice...majulah singapura!!!

That's too vague. 5 figure can be $10k....if you have a family that's barely enough.....hardly can be called good life.

Iluvsingapura..... hahahahaaaa.......

i thnk the unofficial sum being tossed around seems to be approx 500/head/mth for poverty.
poverty must be defined for it serves as a safety net; fall below it and rest assured we will take care of you. this will promote risk taking behaviour.
amongst the poor, Friars will be included and they will show the poor how to live well.

What happens when Sporeans reach their 40's, the unofficual retirement age:confused:
Their working days are numbered. It's now more common nowadays to see people in their 40's getting the pink slip.

I am so proud to be an Australian.

Unlike you sinkies still living in shit holes and getting assed by your PAP government, all ball-less to protesting while waiting for 2016 and then 2011, 2016.

I love Australia and I love Caucasians.

$10k/mth not enough...even for family ...and our family size is small...one or two kid?? Of course if u want to live in landed property, buy 7 series BM, then u need $20k income!!

do you have the opportunity to see what is a pigeon hole?

i don't think our world class public housing HDB apartments are pigeon holes. we should be grateful that we are so blessed here in singapore. everyone has a home of his own...and i don't think they are pigeon holes. thank you.
