Resorts World Sentosa opens special "Ladies Club"
Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) has opened up a special area on its gaming floor just for women, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.
The "Ladies Club" is meant to give an air of exclusivity. It's a small area - 12 tables of three games - all staffed by male croupiers chosen for their service with a smile.
"It's better. At the end of the day we don't have to squeeze with the men. It's not a good feeling, like when they squeeze past you to get their winnings," said one female casino patron.
The casino said it's all about giving better service.
About 40 per cent of the casino's patrons are women, so it makes marketing sense to find out what they want. The perks may not necessarily lure patrons away from its competitor at Marina Bay Sands, but they might sweeten the experience for customers at RWS just a tad.
As to whether such offerings might fuel gambling addictions, counsellors are not too worried.
"All these are the marketing strategies of the casino, and I see nothing wrong. The final responsibility is on the person. If a person is in recovery (from a gambling addiction), then they ought to know the places where they should not be going," said Charles Lee, senior counsellor, Tanjong Pagar Family Service Centre.
The casino also has packages for high rollers, and a special "Orchid Club" for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents. -

Lady losers will get a free screw by the male croupiers upon their requests.
