ST Aerospace Receives Large Contracts for RSAF Maintenance Work

Singapore-based ST Engineering announced that its aerospace arm, ST Aerospace, secured two maintenance contracts by the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF). The maintenance services for a variety of aircraft of the RSAF's fleet has been agreed for a period of six years and will yield a total revenue of SGD363 million (€189.32 million, $ 257.54 million).

The maintenance support, defined in the two recently awarded contracts, will commence immediately, according to ST Engineering. As the company emphasised for its investors, these contracts are not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of ST Engineering for the current financial year.

The Southeast Asian state has a significant number of US-built aircraft, including F-5 Tiger II, F-16C/D Block 52(+), E-2C Hawkeyes and KC-135R Stratotankers. Furthermore, Singapore’s newest asset is the F-15SG Strike Eagle multi-role fighter aircraft, manufactured by Boeing and selected in 2005 over the Dassault Rafale.

Money from taxpayers goes to defence budget, that goes to GLC, that goes to ex-generals cum scholars cum pappy running dogs (director fees/bonus), that goes to GLC major shareholders Temasek, that goes to Temasek head (salary/director fees/bonus). There you go. Money goes round and round and round...

They are the best on planet earth...all the "ST"...hooo jinx was a engineer with them right... once...so, they have to be the best...even the Russians loose out to them...

'go eat your heart out'...."We are the best"

Many decades, Goh Keng Swee convinced the cabinet that we need to be self sufficient in food and that we can get synergy from the SAF in terms of armaments via Chartered Industries and reduce the cost of defence. It began life as Sheng Li Holdings.

Since then instead of reducing the cost of defence, it has has flipped over 180 degrees to one where the tail wags the dog. Work for the GLC is now one of the aim of SAF and employment for scholars and hangers-on.

Now, its even worse, new GLCs are being created for no reason other than to provide reward (I would not even call it employment) for these scholars and hangers on. Good case is DSTA. Since when does a company like this decide which fighter the RSAF should buy. What does it say about your air force when they cannot independently choose the plane they want?

I agree. They even created one to get the contracts for developing store cards for MRT and buses. They got a lady scholar to head it. How that fits into caital market economy is beyond me.

The problem is they are running out of companies to put all their entourages in. So many scholars and lackeys are getting beholden to PAP and all want directorship, etc. So, no choice, must create a myriad of new GLCs, and subdivide Ministries to create jobs for their lackeys. Some of these GLCs and stat boards are ridiculous. Competition Commission of Singapore? Council for Private education?

Health Promotion Board and Health Sciences Authority- Shouldn't these be under the MOH? Why set up 2 different orgs., with 2 different staffs, etc. when it can be housed in one office in some MOH building. The PAP civil govt. for the level of service they provide, is one of the most inefficient in the world. I think you can cut 30% of their budget without seeing a noticeable decline in service levels.

this story sounds familiar. like one of the big American co. where they allow their "stars" to do what they want.
