If you don't work for a big firm where you are supported by Government and MNC contracts, you are no better than a hawker.

The hawker does not have an image to maintain, but you have. The hawker does not need a Rolex watch or Mont Blanc pen. But the lawyer must have a proper office and pay a chiobu secretary.

Only if they have contracts with Government or MNCs. This is called "Big Tap" clients (大水喉).

The rest are just picking up crumbs tossed away to the dogs. The ones who are making money don't deal with criminal cases unless white-collar crimes. Most of the theft and drug cases are committed by desperados who cannot afford legal representations. These cases are picked up by kajian puteh lawyers who are signed up with the Criminal Legal Aid Board. They get paid little money, but they get some form exposure in the media.

The address of the law firm is the first sign as to whether the law firm is doing well. And based on that, you can assess the risk of depositing your money with them. And the few using serviced office, you can forget about it.
