US B-52 bombers challenge disputed China air zone.

The US has flown two B-52 bombers over disputed islands in the East China Sea in defiance of new Chinese air defence rules, officials say.

China set up its "air defence identification zone" on Saturday insisting that aircraft obey its rules or face "emergency defensive measures".

A Pentagon spokesman said the planes had followed "normal procedures".

The islands, known as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China, are a source of rising tension between the two nations.

Japan has dismissed the Chinese defence zone as "not valid at all" and two of its biggest airlines announced on Tuesday they would abide by a request from the government in Tokyo not to implement the new rules.
'Normal procedures'

"We have conducted operations in the area of the Senkakus," said US Colonel Steve Warren.

"We have continued to follow our normal procedures, which include not filing flight plans, not radioing ahead and not registering our frequencies."

He added that so far there had been no response from China.

The aircraft, which were unarmed, had taken off from Guam on Monday and the flight was part of a regular exercise in the area, a US defence official said.

The US - which has more than 70,000 troops in Japan and South Korea - had previously said it would not abide by the "destabilising" Chinese-imposed zone.

Here's an interesting article:

Decline of the American Empire? Global Configurations of Power, The Swindle Economy and the Criminal State
http://www.globalresearch.ca/declin...windle-economy-and-the-criminal-state/5359263

Here is the key paragraph:

Washington has lost economic influence in Asia to China but it is mounting a regional counter-offensive, based on its network of military bases in Japan , the Philippines and Australia . It is promoting a new Pan Pacific economic agreement that excludes China. This demonstrates the US capacity to intervene and project imperial interests. However announcing new policies and organizations is not the same as implementing and providing them with dynamic content. Washington ’s military encirclement of China is off-set by the US Treasury’s multi-trillion dollar debt to Beijing . An aggressive US military encirclement of China could result in a massive Chinese sell-off of US Treasury notes and five hundred leading US multi-nationals finding their investments in jeopardy!

And this is the Pan Pacific economic agreement:

Ryukyu Islands have a population of 1.4 million people, and is home to 74% of US troops stationed in Japan. A deep rooted anti-Japanese sentiment, along with a strong presence of foreign military forces and a high crime rate related to the US troops constantly fuel the independence movement.

International Law doesn't recognize or outlaw ADIZ. What we have here is International Norm and not International Law. It essentially a unilateral action of the country concern. No country ever consult another country when they decided to draw the ADIZ boundary. As such, there is no question of formal recognition because International Law doesn't have such provision with regards to ADIZ. No country will formally recognize another country's ADIZ. Even US don't report to Japan and SK when their military planes fly into their ADIZ. The exception of course is the US ADIZ since no country will ever dare to defy US militarily. Ultimately compliance to a country's ADIZ only boils down to one thing -fist is might.

If a war breaks out between US and China, which side would you join?

US, Japan and Philippine, Vietnam against China, those 3 formers are for sure will work together Vietnam maybe , so you say who win leh.

I side the underdog, even though I hate the communist but they are more in name only la.

What China has achieve in the last 35 years outshine those so called democracy Countries, when I first visit China their clothing are of only 3 colour grey, dark blue and green, Shanghai wasn't even like what it is today, no pollution as most people bike around, people will gather around you like you are a movie star, time has change they are communist only in name, they are more capitalist than the so called capitalist, they are more willing to take risk and venture out.

Buy popcorns and enjoy the show.

Yankees' such cowboy reckless act has opened up more future 'opportunities' for both the Jap & PLA, and maybe Russkies to emulate.
Yankees' acts proofed that ADIZ has no legal binding, it is free for all to crave-out as long as you can maintained your zone. Maybe the Russkies can crave an similar ADIZ on the Sea of Japan as well.

Independence for Okinawa (part one) Okinawans tired of being used by U.S. and Japan

February 25, 2013 Ryusuke Kawai

This article first appeared in Japanese on JBpress on January 22. You can read it here.

Since 1945 the United States has maintained a chain of military bases on Okinawa, an island it has called "The Keystone of the Pacific." However, a continuing series of rapes and other crimes committed by U.S. troops in Japan, the perception that Okinawa bears an unfair burden of the U.S. presence, and memories of Japanese colonialism in the first half of the 20th century have turned many Okinawans against the bases. Journalist Ryusuke Kawai interviews an Okinawan who advocates going one step further: full independence.
