Nice Ilovepap and Kopisai's ASS...
Late to this thread but when I was in secondary school in the 90's, I was rounded up with a bunch of ah bengs (don't know why also, I was an ah toot) for a 'scare you straight' visit to Changi Prison. We were shown a slide show of a caning process and this is the summary as I recall:
- Prisoner totally naked, except for being bound up in a strait-jacket that also protects the tailbone
- Prisoner is then fastened to an A-frame. I think the ankles were bound as well
- Only a max of 6 strokes per sitting, have to otang
- Caning is administered by 'professionals' who yes, has to go through training. In the photos, they were damned fit and muscular types. They were also rotated per stroke (I can't remember exactly but there seemed to be 3 caners )
- The caners don't just stand there and piak-piak your backside, they take a full running swing from a distance to administer each stroke to its maximum devastating impact. In some photos, we could actually see skin flying off into the air
- The caners had to go through training because they have to avoid caning the exact same spot twice. Gotta say their aiming is damned precise
- By the time the caning is done (6 strokes), it looked like the butt only had tiny slivers of skin left. The rest were exposed flesh
So yeah, the Malaysian rotan/caning is really nothing compared to the Singaporean one. As somebody said, it's like a normal person's punch versus Mike Tyson's.
