副總統陳建仁在南台灣大淹水的第二天，帶家人到金門度假3天2夜，雖然在人多的景點特意戴上口罩，仍在翟山坑道遭眼尖陸客團認出並要求合照。據了解，陳建仁相當錯愕，隨扈也嚇了一大跳，趕忙阻擋。
當地民眾對陳建仁和蔡英文總統不參加金門「823炮戰」60周年紀念活動，卻在明知南台灣遭豪雨重創之際，跑到金門逍遙遊，普遍不能接受，質疑他玩得心安理得嗎？「這是甚麼政府？」還有人問說「戴口罩？金門有傳染病嗎？衛生專家才會玩得這樣緊張」，但也有人認為正常休假，人之常情。

陳建仁在24日中午偕夫人帶著2位女兒、女婿和孫子抵金後，即搭乘交通船至小金門離島暢遊沙溪堡、地雷主題館，並在景點餐廳「三層樓」用餐，直到晚間7時30分才回到金門本島，入住著名「僑村」水頭薛家民宿。
25日一早，陳建仁和家人吃過民宿準備的金門風味餐後，悠閒走遊水頭洋樓群，在曾是全島最高建築「得月樓」和金水國小停留甚久，對當地建築之美讚不絕口。但因遊客太多，尤其是陸客團穿梭來去，他還特意戴上口罩，十分低調。
隨後，陳建仁和家人轉往國共軍事對峙年代，以鬼斧神工著稱的翟山坑道，看到當地陸客更多，趕緊又戴起口罩遮掩，但因為隨扈和警方戒護幹員多達30餘人，陣仗之大，想不引人注目、詢問都難，果然被眼尖的陸客認出來，還七嘴八舌要求合照，皆遭隨扈阻擋。
公務專用大型車 變遊覽小巴
1974年在金門榜林村擔任少尉排長的陳建仁帶家人走訪金門酒廠，並赴曾做為「金防部官兵休假中心」的陳景蘭大洋樓參觀，在2樓迴廊看著遠方潮來潮往的料羅灣，還向隨扈提及在前線當兵前塵往事，聽說昔日與袍澤相處的老營區已被拆除，臉上難掩惋惜神情。
陳建仁一行再轉往全台唯一「官窯」金門縣陶瓷廠、文化園區參訪，還在畜試所與家人拿草餵牛，共度假日美好時光。當晚，他和家人在金寧鄉郊區餐廳吃飯，顧客聽說與副總統一起用餐，就有人狐疑問：「台灣不是在做大水嗎？副總統怎麼跑來金門玩？」
更令人非議的，是一連串私人行程，竟動用縣文化局大型公務車當遊覽小巴。縣文化局長呂坤和坦言，10多天前就來借車和司機，該局本於都是公家單位，就照常同意，但縣長不知情。司機王德龍曾在總統府侍衛隊任職，加上技術獲國安局肯定，總統、副總統和行政院長到金門，國安局都會商借王德龍和這部原裝大福特。王德龍則對自己奉命加班開車，竟捲入一場政治風波，十分意外。
奉命加班捲風波 司機很意外
王德龍也曾擔任陳水扁總統巡視金門的座車司機，有一次途中發生民車亂入車隊，在隨扈車輛緊急驅趕下，險些造成追撞意外，還好王德龍化險為夷，讓國安局對他更加放心，只要高層來訪都會指定出勤。總統府強調，副總統出訪皆使用公務車。
26日早上，陳建仁接獲總統府通報因蔡英文南下勘災，臨時決定先與夫人搭9點班機返台，留下其他家人繼續未完行程，直到下午4時30分全家才回台。
