ALEX FERGUSON landed Robin van Persie last night for £22million.
And he promised him the chance to form a dream partnership at Manchester United with Wayne Rooney.
Van Persie will travel to Old Trafford today for a medical after agreeing terms of just over £200,000 a week.
As SunSport said on Tuesday, boss Fergie hoped to complete the transfer before the big kick-off this weekend.
Van Persie, 29, who refused to sign a new deal at Arsenal, has been told he will be played at United as an out-and-out striker.
Rooney will operate in a free role behind him.

ARSENE WENGER insists he will NOT buy another striker to replace Robin van Persie.
The Arsenal boss flogged Dutch ace Van Persie to Manchester United for £22million yesterday.
But he claims the Gunners already have his replacement in new signings Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski.
Wenger said: “Giroud and Podolski were originally intended to offset the departure of Van Persie.”
The Frenchman admits Arsenal were left with no other option but to sell their captain.
He added: “It’s never great to lose players of that quality but he only had a year contract so we do not have a choice.
“He is at Manchester United, unfortunately for us. The transfer was finalised in the afternoon.”
