Robbers attack S'pore woman in JB

She won't let go of LV handbag

By Chong Shin Yen

A woman was dragged along the road for about 10 metres when she refused to let go of her handbag after being attacked by snatch thieves earlier this month. Miss Joanne Tan, 31, was heading to The Store at Taman Sentosa in Johor Baru with her mother at about 8.30pm on 9 Jan when the incident happened. They alighted in front of the shopping mall and she suddenly felt somebody tugging forcefully at her Louis Vuitton handbag from behind. She lost her balance but did not let go of her handbag, a present from her late-fiance. The robbers let go of the handbag and sped off after a short distance, but Miss Tan's feet were run over by a MPV as her mother dragged her to the side of the road. The driver of the MPV brought Miss Tan and her mother to a nearby clinic and paid for her medical bills. She later took Miss Tan to a police station to make a report about the attempted snatch theft and accident.
She has since discarded the handbag.
