RIP to Gerard Houllier

RIP Houllier

YNWA

Liverpool was flying high just when Houllier got his dissecting aortic aneurysm. A pity and what an ordeal for Houllier himself.

I still believe that if not for that medical problem Houllier would have led Liverpool to the EPL title that 2001-2002 season.

Credit should go Houllier for eradicating the Spice Boys culture of the 90s that made LFC a laughing stock and lagging behind Man Utd. Success did came during the early 2000s but at a price. His football was negative at times and he bought expensive shameful duds like Diouf. I just got the feeling for all of his hardwork for LFC, fans still didn't really warm up to him due to his style of football. RIP Houllier.

Nothing wrong with his style of football. I am sure all LFC fans loved the treble cup win. They went to Singapore that summer after they won the Treble. It was incredible.

It isn't about style. It is about winning trophies. ManU fans love to remind LFC fans that.

It was during his watch that Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen came through the ranks.

Signing Gary McAllister was a masterstroke. Same with Sami Hyypia. Stephane Henchoz.

Markus Babbel. Another one struck with illness too soon.

Houllier built Liverpool into a good team that could challenge ManU and Arsenal. This was before all the club buyovers by rich oligarchs.
