Floods in the North, and riots in the South. Year-end bonus announcement by the Government. What a contrast! Singaporeans should be more appreciative.

Looks like the idyllic island to the south is again in danger of killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. Imagine ONE million dissatisfied Indons just at your doorsteps! Opportunists may look for other targets - Malaysians, Singaporeans and other foreigners. They are chasing away the tourists, the investors and the factory owners.

Situation looks serious. Best for Singapore to stay away from the island for now. Reports that roads to factories, shopping centres and ferry terminals are blocked.

Singaporeans must stay united even more.

I just returned from there & didn't know they were having riots. It's OK in Nagoya just wet because of the rains. Batam is quite big & the troubles must be in the industrial area which I've never visited before.

this is not rioting, I see it as police brutality.

such a crowded place police went and squeeze inside of course the crowd will push back.

as stated in the TV, this is a demo, not even demonstration or protest they call it haha

bataam still must go and support if not their economy collapse they will come to your door step, which way you prefer??

Don't play, play. There are numerous Indon news reports about the riots posted Youtube. Government vehicles and police posts are torched. Singapore Channel NewsAsia tries to downplay the situation so as not to offend the big brother SBY.

The wide ass mouth piece will look for all opportunity to praise this island sky-high

Don' be surprise to hear "Bangkok is flood, Singapore is dry yeah yeah yeah"

Hey Botak, once they get hold of you they may even shave of your hair underneath! Even other Singaporeans interviewed that the "police are around also don't care". Watch Singapore TV video:
