Rendezvous Restaurant Hock Lock Kee brings back memories

As a boy, my parents introduced me to Nasi Padang in the early 1980s along Bras Basah Road on the site of the present day Hotel Rendezvous. The restaurant shifted to Raffles City in the 1990s, then to Hotel Rendezvous before returning to its current location at Central Mall in Robertson Quay in 2010. Like many such old school eateries, the quality has taken a nose dive while prices have climbed steeply, though I still patronise it from time to time. Please share your stories about Hock Lock Kee.

I agree 100% on your views of this Rendezvous restaurant

It was my favourite and reasonably priced restaurant where I ate very often before I moved to my village by Lake Victoria Uganda

I hope to visit Rendezvous restaurant again if I pay a visit to Singapore

No direct flight?

Totally bland, watered diwn version of what i used to know. Not worth the visit if not for the nostalgia. I tried recently after many years. Total disappointment. And super expensive. Just go eat makchik version at hawker centre is good enough .
Maybe as you age, your taste bud got bland.

Was it also your last date with her after eating at Rendezvous?
Obviously not since she became my gf after that date. Before that I have never been to rendezvous. Passed by many times while going to the bookshops nearby. Low ses kid like me didn’t even know how to pronounce the word rendezvous.
She was atas rich kid living in landed district 9

The chendol at Rendezvous is next level
