Sometimes, the ways used by the old folks very different. Most of them don't show their love to the kids openly like westerners. Their love means beatings and scoldings. Cos' afraid of kids ended up pai kias being chopped in the streets. You are not alone.

Agree if the kid is indeed bad or behaves badly but not if they are doing nothing but reading silently at a corner.

The human race keeps making the same mistake over and over again that parents are usually right just because they are adults and parents.
The same mistake is also made for teachers, politicians, policemen, etc.
