A former secondary school relief teacher was charged on Monday with four counts of having sex with a student between 2009 and 2010.

Ross Ryan Kristiaensen, 30, allegedly had consensual sex with the 13-year-old girl at his flat on Dec 3, 2009 and at an unknown unit in Bayshore Road on Dec 31 that year; and two more times in June and Oct 10 the following year when she had turned 14.

His lawyer, Mr Peter Fernando, requested time to take full instructions from his client. The case has been adjourned to Dec 17.

If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 10 years or fine or to both.

A former relief teacher at a secondary school, was jailed for 18 months on Wednesday for having sex with a 13-year-old student.

Ross Ryan Kristiaensen, now 30, had admitted to two of four charges of having sex with the girl in December 2009 and October 2010.

Then a home economics teacher, Kristiaensen selected the victim to take part in a salad competition organised by a community centre in end-July 2009.

He took her out to buy items a day before the competition.

A MAN convicted of raping a 13-year-old girl could not have had sex with her because he is impotent, the High Court heard yesterday.

The 27-year-old - who has been ordered to serve 11 years in jail - suffered from erectile dysfunction, a senior consultant urologist testified. This meant he would not have been able to have full sexual intercourse with the victim.

The man was sentenced to the jail term and eight strokes of the cane in 2011 after being found guilty of raping his former girlfriend's sister. He cannot be named to protect her identity.

His lawyers launched an appeal last year against the conviction and sentence, asking to admit new evidence that showed he was incapable of having penetrative sex. This application was allowed despite objections from prosecutors, who said he did not mention it during his trial.

BACKGROUND STORY

The consultant raised doubts over a test conducted by Tan Tock Seng Hospital in December 2011, which concluded there was no evidence that the man suffered from erectile dysfunction.
