By Leong Wai Kit | Posted: 10 October 2012 1322 hrs

SINGAPORE: A 25-year-old woman has been charged with setting the door of an HDB flat on fire.

Sherilyn Teo Li Ying allegedly committed the offence on September 24.

She is believed to have used turpentine to set the main door of a unit at Redhill Road on fire.

If found guilty, Teo can be jailed up to seven years and fined.

Is it too much to expect the pros at ChannelNewsAsia to provide details on the reason why she was trying to renovate that particular unit:confused:

is damaging your own door considered vandalism ?
ok understood if it is done by fire it will endanger the neighbours, but if you hack your own door will you be liable to hdb/govt

Take 7 for creating fire hazard, don't play with fire next time.

As others have pointed out one does not own a HDB unit. One is only renting it from the gov't.
So the door belongs to them & this case has shown that it costs 7 years. As usual anything from the gov't is overpriced:rolleyes:
