Why are 6 seater grab/tada/gojek/wtv drivers like this

General

l swear this has been happening way too often lately and it’s honestly getting damn annoying.

Doesn’t matter which app, Grab, TADA, Gojek, etc, all the same pattern. Anytime I book a 6-seater when I’m out with friends or family (like… 5 people only btw), the driver will call. Okay fine, I get it, sure go ahead and ask how many people, how many bags, all normal. AND BEFORE anyone simply assume, we are just a group of 5. nothing else.

But after that, the tone just changes??

We’ve had drivers:

  • Sound super sian or irritated the moment they hear it’s 5 people because they have open the back of the vehicle.
  • Question us like we’re trying to squeeze in extra people or something
  • Give attitude over small things like us holding drinks (we’re not even drinking?? hello basic manners exist??) it’s in the plastic bag?
And it’s not just young people they act like that to. I’ve seen them talk like this to older adults in my family also, which honestly makes it worse. Like there’s no need to be so rude?

What I don’t get is… you’re literally driving a 6-seater. Isn’t the whole point to take groups? We’re not exceeding capacity, not bringing a crazy amount of luggage, not doing anything unreasonable. Just using the service as it’s meant to be used.

It’s not even a one-off thing anymore, it’s happened enough times that it feels like a pattern.

And before anyone says it’s because of “past bad experiences” or whatever, I’m sorry I really don’t care but that’s not an excuse to treat every passenger like they’re a problem from the start. Basic respect is really not that hard. If you’re apprehensive about a few luggage bags ruining your car or PEOPLE WITHIN the limit, then don’t use your car to drive!!!! their car their rules, sure! but dont be rude about it and don’t expect people to take rudeness kindly.

At the end of the day, we’re just trying to get from point A to B without feeling like we’re inconveniencing someone for doing something completely normal.

Anyone else kena this or is it just my luck??
