SG girl back in SG after 20 years - few observations

  1. Search for items to buy is not as straightforward. I’ve been trying to locate a French press to buy, can’t find a single shop that sells it, tried google search as well. NTUC seems to have it on their website but they don’t tell me which store. Amazon delivery is in 3 days.
  2. Shops are very stingy about tissue. Why not give serviettes with food?
  3. Singapore claims to have best service but I see that it’s not a global standard; they just compare themselves with other Asian countries? Really service is quite bad
  4. Phone zombies everywhere. People refuse to look up. The only people who have their heads up to look around are tourists / foreigners. Everyone else is in their little bubble and do not smile
  5. I forgot how awkward Singaporeans are. I once was in a long ass taxi queue. When my turn for a taxi came and there were still a dozen people in the queue, I called out loud to ask anyone going to Ang Mo Mio so they can share a taxi with me, no one even responded. Everyone just started straight at me like I’m weird.
  6. Healthy food choices are minimal. My work is around Science Park. I just need some vegetables. Salads, fruits, impossible.
