Migrating to Singapore - Malaysian Indian

I am a Malaysian Indian considering migrating to Singapore. I would like to better understand the experiences of Indian Singaporean citizens, particularly regarding racism in workplaces, schools, daycare facilities, and participation in sports at a national level.

Questions:

  • Do Indian Singaporean citizens face barriers in promotions or leadership roles at work?
  • Have you experienced or witnessed microaggressions or stereotyping based on race in the workplace?
  • Do Indian students face bias or stereotyping from teachers or peers at school?
  • Have there been incidents of racial bullying in schools, and how were they addressed?
  • Are parents of Indian students treated fairly by school staff?
  • Are there daycare centers in Singapore that are mainly run by local Singaporean, Indian, or Western staff?
  • Do Indian Singaporeans have equal opportunities to participate in national sports teams?
  • Have you noticed any racial biases in sports selections, sponsorships, or recognition?

Malaysian Indian is still a Malaysian. The stigma is the “Malaysian” part.
