Laundromats and filthy dirty clothes being thrown into the washing machines

General

Dear all, with many laundromats popping up in our island, I have been using some to wash my curtains, blankets and dirty post holiday laundry.

But now, it came to my mind. What if I want to wash my dirty muddy pants / top / boots after a hiking trip or a field soccer match? Or what if an old person wants to wash his spouses stained clothes/soiled bedsheets that are smelling? Or an oil n gas worker who wants to wash his heavy oil stained overalls? Or someone whose dog peed onto a doormat that stinks and then needs to be washed?

I know that laundromats are meant to wash dirty laundry. Nobody goes there to wash clean laundry. So what is the line that says "no this is too dirty to be in my shop!"?

What rules are there in general to prevent such extreme contaminations from happening into the commonly used washing machines? Any owners / workers can come up and tell us the usual laundromat problems you face? What should users take note of when using the machines?

Those dirt will clog the washing machine and even jam the bearings or cause other damages.

I have seen people place their muddy running shoes and football boots in commercial washing machines

My helper informed me that the neighbour's maid who looks after an elderly grandmother, brings soiled bedsheets, comforters and mattress covers to the laundromat in order not to contaminate the rest of the laundry at home.
