I think I just witnessed the most calculated bus fare evasion

General

I often take the same bus after 6 PM as this older man (maybe 50s) who probably works near my office. I remembered him because he’s usually talking loudly on the phone inside the bus and it was quite annoying.

The bus was crowded so I was standing in front of the card reader. As others were alighting at the 2nd bus stop, I saw he tapped his card out like he was also alighting, but instead he just went to the back of the bus and sat down again. It caught my attention and wondered why he did that, maybe he forgot that he already tapped in? Bec I saw him tapped his card when we boarded. After 4 stops, some seats were empty so I took the seat behind him.

Then after 10 stops (Chinatown) he casually waited for the last person to alight then he stood up while some people are boarding then he exit without tapping out. The bus was crowded so I don’t think the driver noticed. The driver was looking at the people tapping in. So basically, he only paid for 1 bus stop.

Based on how casually he did it, it honestly seemed intentional and probably not the first time. I mean, you cannot accidentally tap out and sit again right?? I rode the bus with him few times but did not pay much attention and I wasn’t seated near him. I will observe again next time. If so, do I report him or am I being too much?
