Can singapore ban ccp members from entry? Just like the usa?
Can we consider outright ban or limit visas to 1m plus background checks first?
The United States has policies restricting entry and visa validity for Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members and their families, aimed at countering influence and protecting national security. Policies include limiting travel document validity to one month, potential revocation of existing visas, and strict, often insurmountable hurdles for obtaining green cards or immigration.
Key Aspects of the Ban/Restrictions:
Scope: Policies generally target CCP members, their families, military personnel, and executives at state-owned enterprises.
Visa Restrictions (2020): The U.S. reduced the maximum validity of travel (B-1/B-2) visas for CCP members to one month, down from 10 years.
Immigration/Green Cards: Under U.S. law, immigrants who are affiliated with a communist or totalitarian party are generally inadmissible, although exceptions exist for involuntary membership or if the individual is deemed "not a threat".
Targeted Sanctions: The US Treasury continues to sanction specific entities and individuals tied to the CCP for actions against U.S. interests, such as supporting weapons proliferation
