Anyone else feel like Singapore is becoming a country where you either own property early or you’re permanently playing catch-up?

Discussion

Every few months got new cooling measures, new grants, new schemes, new “support for young couples” announcements. But somehow ECs still fly, resale prices still ridiculous, and people who bought 5-10 years ago are basically playing life on easy mode.

Meanwhile people entering the workforce now:

Salary increase lose to inflation

AI already threatening junior office jobs

Rental prices still insane

BTO wait times still mentally exhausting

It was common to hear of PMET couples in SG buying landed homes in the 1950s and 60s. Now it is impossible for a typical white collar couple to do so w/o parental assistance.

PMETs are tired now sprinting at work 5 days a week, but finding that they are still on the same spot on the hamster wheel. Slowing down is not an option since they will be thrown off if they do that.
