As frequent traveller I am constantly concerned what housekeeping staff do in my room with my staff. I believe a portable camera in the room will deter any housekeeper from doing stuff I may dislike and of course it could deter theft too. Does anyone here have any experience in this? Please recommend a good camera. I think my requirement will be as follows:

1. Size does not matter as it is for deterrent not secretive recording.
2. Very portable suitable for travelling
3. Long battery life preferable 8hrs
4. Motion sensor could save power if it records only if motion and or sound is detected
5. Night vision is room is dim
6. Rechargeable battery, do not need power cord
7. Wifi enabled so could watch from smart phone

Looking forward to your sharing

heimvision 202 indoor camera. small enough to pack and carry. large enough to be visible and deter. round to be packed in luggage or carry-on bag without breaking or scratching. has led indicator to show that it's on or recording. auto night vision. full hd. wi-fi. works with smartphone app. better to plug it into power outlet as battery for 8 hrs will make it too heavy to carry around plus battery hazard when checked in. only usd49.69. cheaper at amazon with no delivery charges if you're prime member.

Staff vs stuff.

Hotel staff will cover camera lens with towel or whatever. Then, can do whatever she wants with your stuff.

Bestest solution is:

- don’t travel with too many valuables
- whatever valuables must be small enough to put in room safe, iPad can put inside but lap top cannot ........ so use iPad lah

i just feel that froggy bro should be more relaxed about his travels. I think it is stressful to travel with such devices and charges them daily, although it is good deterrence if u leave them on the hotel table. But if i am the cleaner, i will think that u are very anal and end up stealing your recording cam? haha

Other than clothes and toiletries, maybe froggy bro can lock them in the luggage when u leave your hotel room. Most luggage have locks and you double-lock with another lock when u leave the room. Most cleaners will not dare to break double locks.

btw, never lock your phone nor lte-capable tablet that are still "on" in the small safe provided in each room. both will overheat as they power up to look for signals and may pose a fire hazard. if i'm not using my tablet outside room i'll switch it off and lock it inside safe. phone will always be with me including going to the gym or having hydrotherapy. and i always leave the "do not disturb" sign at the door as i make my own bed, wash my own underwear, hang and reuse towels, clean countertop, keep the room tidy, stow away luggages and other barang barang, wipe the mirrors, and scrub the bathtub. i have neatness, tidiness, cleanliness, and room perfection ocd. :o-o::alien::barefoot::ninja:

Alternatively, just set your device to airplane mode when not carrying them with you. Turn off all that Bluetooth, GPS features too.

if you're using an iphone, you still need to switch off "cellular data" to avoid data roaming charges even with airplane mode on. background data updates still happen in airplane mode, and if wi-fi is not on, cellular data kicks in (the moment you pass by a cell tower or land at the airport).

"According to Apple, cellphone users must turn off ‘cellular data’ in the settings section of their phone in addition to switching on airplane mode to ensure that data is not being used."

If I am the chambermaid, I see one guest so distrusting and kuailan, I will install a pinhole camera after I'm done with the cleaning to see what this kuailan guest do with her partner when they are back in the evening.

I am compelled to agree you two, so deterrent is not a good idea, looks like installing secretive camera is the way to go.

I got a high SES friend, many years ago his Pinoy maid was caught red-handed bringing her Bangla boyfriend back to his condo home to fuck. The maid's bedroom was on a lower level, same level as the living room. My friend's bedroom and his parents' room were on a higher level, same level as the kitchen and the main entrance. Both levels were connected by a small parquet floor staircase.

I had stayovers at his place and his maid was always around. Then one day the maid was no longer around, I asked him and he told me this.
