Today I heard on radio that Switzerland frequently have referendum for people to vote on important issues. Any citizen can call for referendum to be carried out by collecting 100,000 signatures. Singapore should have such a system that would have prevented the casino and immigration floodgate problems.
Just googled, they have referendum on various issues and approximate four votings a year. Wow really Switzerland standard is the way for Singapore!
"Switzerland's voting system is unique among modern democratic nations in that Switzerland practices direct democracy (also called semi-direct democracy), in which any citizen may challenge any law approved by the parliament or, at any time, propose a modification of the federal Constitution."
