Answer is very simple, Ms Tin's husband is the Principal Private Secretary to LHL. That means, he sees the PM everyday. He also sees Ms Tin in bed everynight.
At night when they lie down, she will tell him what she saw and who say what... the husband then will tell PM the next day...
This Ms Tin will become the most powerful woman in PAP eventually... everyone in PAP will be scared of her since she can pass words to PM through her husband...

The official reason would be that the young voters would identify with her.
Not so sure about that, this could be a move that backfires.
She's going to need some long coat-tails and wide skirts. My honest opinion is that she would lose against most opposition candidates in an SMC.

Many heartlander uncles and aunties who would vote for former high ranking soldiers, professionals, senior civil servants or even grassroot loyalists, may not like her for the same reasons they vote for these people. The young are not like the elderly, they may not take kindly to one of their peers age-wise standing for elections, particularly since they know who her husband is. Those who are struggling in their first job or without a job or still schooling, may even be resentful. SG society has always had respect for experience and believe in the wisdom of age, which is of course a fallacy in reality.
And these are just the pap supporters/voters. The opposition supporters whould certainly not vote for her, just like they would not vote for anyone on a pap ticket.

It may even be possible that some within the pap ranks are resentful of her. Most of the incumbent mps stepping down would accept being replaced by a 40+ year-old military general or doctor or banker. It would be interesting to know if they have the same feelings being replaced by a 27 year old junior accountant married to a pps of the big boss. Perhaps they would have been better off letting the pps stand for election and replacing him with the wife.

If manage to become mp thru piggyback; EY may make her manager, then a salaried partner, partner, then board. EY services rotate among the GLCees....big biz.

Partner may be able to get about SGD100K per month with profit sharing.
