THE Football Association of Singapore (FAS) will seek clarification from national coach Raddy Avramovic on comments he made to The Straits Times about how the stagnant S-League has contributed to the Lions' decline.

In a statement released late last night, the FAS said officials will meet Avramovic upon his return from Myanmar - where the Lions played an international friendly yesterday - "before deciding on the next course of action".

"It is not the practice of the FAS to discuss such matters through the media, and indeed, if coach Raddy had any misgivings, he should have brought them to the FAS."

The statement was in response to the coach's comments published in The Straits Times yesterday.

The 62-year-old blamed a stagnant S-League for a lack of fresh talent in the national team, adding: "In my nine years here, no exceptional players have emerged, apart from Hariss (Harun). If you do not produce better quality players, you cannot progress."
