Netizens have been pulled up for making racist comments online, but the public backlash has not deterred new offenders from crossing the line.

Those who trip up tend to be young, impulsive and insular, say political observers and bloggers. They also tend not to be savvy with new media, believing that what they say is limited to a small circle of, say, friends.

The latest to get into trouble is a Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) student known as Shimun Lai, who posted racist remarks on her Facebook and Twitter accounts that insulted Indians. Netizens called her 'racist' and 'a disgrace' after a screenshot of the offending post went viral on Monday.

She has since deactivated her Twitter and Facebook page and could not be contacted.

Young people tend to be more honest before they get corrupted with cronyism and being politically correct.

What goes unsaid and under cover is the politics behind it.Racism is institutionalized for vote banks.Sort of divide and rule.Same story every where in the world. And it's the gullibility of youth that swallows hook line and sinker because of their naivety .

In short, politicians exploit bigotry into racism.Just like PAP ag e nt pro vo ca te ur Jah Rastfar does in this forum.
