Singapore police clearance for Australia 189 visa
Hi All,
Need your help. I have a question that is worrying me since last few months. I was staying in Singapore for around 7 years and have moved to Australia last year in April. I had a credit card debt of 7k Singapore dollars which I did not bother to pay. The bank didn't have my new contact details hence they couldn't contact me. Except an email that I got few weeks back asking for my contact details. Now I am applying for a permanent visa in Australia and they need police clearance from all the countries I have stayed in the last 10 years including Singapore. Do you think that this credit card default will affect the police clearance? Would the bank have filed a police complaint and will this result in a criminal offence?

die in a fire, ah neh? cheat our banks, then run to aussie cheat some more?

Dear Arjun:

Unless you end up with a couple of million dollars (preferably US greenbacks), it is not worth to cheat. But since you're already in it, suggest you travel with a passport under a different name. If the photo in the new passport looks like you, you're fine, don't have to worry about the cops or custom officers. Good luck!

Cheers!

neh, i suggest that you clear your credit card debt. like you mentioned, they will be doing a clearance for your PR application and one of the criteria is get your ass to our central police station to do clearance. in there, they will check if there is any complaint filed or criminal record that you hold. you will need this document for your PR processing at Australia's side.

Papees usually give PRs to foreigners who are considered foreign talents but the foreigners are smart enough to use the PR permit to set up companies in sinkapoo. They used the companies to cheat sinkies, banks, finance companies, etc and then ran road leaving behind a trail of debt. This case looks like a typical one of a PR running road.

Any better reason why foreigners love the papees?
