In recent years, China and Russia have continued to cooperate on the peaceful use of space.

At the 23rd St. Petersburg International Economic Forum held on June 6-8, the president of the Russian National Aerospace Group (Roscosmos), Demetri Roghojin, said that he is ready to share information about the development of super-heavy launch vehicles with China. It is proposed that the two countries work together to build a lunar base.

According to the Russian satellite news agency on the 8th, Rogozin said, "Now we are negotiating with Chinese friends and can honestly share information about the development of heavy rockets, including some parameters and payload."

In addition, Rogozin also proposed to China that the two countries will jointly build a lunar base to build a remote sensing satellite group. "We hope to develop space monitoring systems, study outer space, and achieve international cooperation in the future of asteroids and comet safety. Let us work together in this area."

According to the news report of the Tass news agency on June 8, Rogozin proposed at the forum that Russia’s “Lunar-26” lunar exploration project will cooperate with China’s lunar exploration project in depth. "The spacecraft and equipment used by the lunar exploration project can be compatible with our Chinese friends."

According to the Russian Satellite News Agency, Russia’s ultra-heavy launch vehicle sharing information with China is the “Yenise” super-heavy launch vehicle that is scheduled to be launched in 2028. In January of this year, Rogozin released the development plan for this rocket on Twitter.

According to the "Russian newspaper" website reported on January 4th, "Yenis" will be composed of six boosters equipped with RD-171 engine and a core class equipped with RD-180 engine, which is about 100 meters long and carries the near-ground rail. With a capacity of more than 70 tons, it will be used for long-range space missions of the Moon and Mars in the future.

China-Russia cooperation

In recent years, China and Russia have continued to cooperate on the peaceful use of space.

In November 2017, China and Russia signed an agreement to jointly explore space from 2018 to 2022. The agreement covers a wide range of fields including lunar exploration and deep space exploration, special materials research, and earth remote sensing. Although this is not the first time that China and Russia have signed a similar agreement, the time span of this agreement is the longest, up to 5 years.

In February 2018, Savilyev, deputy general manager of the Russian National Aerospace Group, and Wu Yanhua, deputy director of the China Aerospace Corporation, held a space cooperation talks. The two sides conducted in-depth consultations on large-scale joint project cooperation in the fields of heavy-duty launch vehicles and engines, the moon and deep space exploration, and also conducted communication and docking on the annual work plan under the regular meeting mechanism between the Chinese and Russian prime ministers.

According to a report by the Russian Satellite News Agency on March 3, 2018, the Russian National Aerospace Group and the China National Space Administration signed an agreement on the cooperation in the field of lunar exploration and deep space exploration, and will also establish a Sino-Russian joint space exploration data center.

It is worth mentioning that in these projects, the exploration of the moon and deep space, as well as heavy-duty launch vehicles and engines are the two major focuses. Earlier reports said that China Great Wall Industry Group Co., Ltd. is negotiating with Russia's "top rocket engine manufacturer" power machinery research and production complex, and the focus is on the latter's RD-180 rocket engine.
Russia's RD-180 rocket engine, the United States has purchased this engine for many years, used as a rocket-level first-class Russian RD-180 rocket engine. The United States has purchased this engine for many years and used it as a multi-stage rocket.

RD-180 rocket engine Russia developed a dual-combustion double-nozzle rocket engine. Due to its excellent performance, the United States has purchased this engine for many years and used it as a first-class power for multiple rockets. But in April this year, the Russian satellite news agency reported that the US Air Force Space Command Commander John Raymond said at the hearing of the House Military Committee that the United States intends to completely abandon the use of the RD-180 Russian rocket engine in 2022.

Promoted to "New China-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Partnership"

According to Xinhua News Agency reported on June 5, the Chinese and Russian heads of state decided on the 5th to upgrade the relationship between the two countries into a "new era China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation."

The Ministry of Commerce held a regular press conference on June 6. The spokesperson of the press briefed that during the meeting between the heads of state of China and Russia on the 5th, they witnessed the signing of a series of pragmatic cooperation documents and achieved many results. Gao said that in addition to the traditional energy and resources fields, China and Russia have also made positive progress in the cooperation in emerging fields such as high-tech, medicine and e-commerce, and the pace has been accelerating, showing the great potential and opportunities embodied in Sino-Russian pragmatic cooperation.
