actually this is a case of everyone loses. this wholesale appropriation of aircraft is symptomatic of Putin's short term thinking. First of all, the lessors will kena. Some of them will go under. Additionally, some of the plane mfrs will kena too. Some airlines will kena because some of their planes will be held on the books of those lessors and will probably be repoed unless some deal is struck.

To top it all off, this dumbfuck tyrant is going to end up with a whole fleet that is literally unable to fly anywhere. What's the point of having the planes if they have no destinations that will let them have an air corridor? No passengers who can afford to fly? All he will have is a plane graveyard pt 2 like the previous one the Soviet Union made.

Total dumbfuck in the end. Some Russians have mentioned that he's no longer as together as in his earlier years. Possibly dementia.

Hard to say. Depends on how their respective governments treat this matter. They may bend the law or they may stick to it. If they stick to the letter of the law, the will go under or take impairments at the very least. So probably bend the law. It's still relatively new. a few days old. I suspect a whole bunch of frantic phone calls are being made all over the world.

I see no light at the end of the tunnel if Russia keeps them. If they use it as a bargaining chip then maybe there's a point, but tgus act is a total loss for Russia one way or another. No one will ever sell them another plane again.

This is speculative, but if anything, this may actually lead the leaseholders to hire mercs to steal them back.

Right now, Russia is starting to be dependent on China. A situation that Putin actually hates. As this drags on, he will become more and more dependent. If this goes on too long, Russia will become a satellite state of China. Good luck to the Russians then.

yup. early days. I think the news has yet to be fully absorbed by the market. An oddity in this day and age. Maybe too preoccupied with too much other crap. I think this is overpriced. Shooting from the hip, this should be priced at junk bond yields or worse. i.e. still more to drop.

unless of course the market has information I don't have like rescue packages etc...

He was for the longest time not stupid. I think he's had a mental break. Old age. As I mentioned, Russians have mentioned that this is not his normal behaviour. No longer calculating, more emotional. He wants to reunite his old Russian Empire under his aegis.

It is a rule of war that supporting non-combatants stand to benefit no matter who the loser or the winner is.
