public noise disturbance

about 5.30am was woken up by the sound of shouting voices and singing. let it go till about 6am, where it was still going on, so went down to the park opposite and saw a group of 4 foreign workers , 2 half naked, shouting and singing, fighting among themselves.

called 999

noise seem to stop for a while but at about 6.45am, same thing.

went down, the same guys. this time, one who was half naked was peeing on the grass...

called 999 again. was told by the person on the phone that the officers could not find the 4 guys...!!!!

so i gave directions again, but this time, the 4 saw me on the phone and realized i was calling the police, so they took off.
i gave the guy on the phone a description of what they 4 were wearing and which direction they were walking towards.


so first i was told that after the first call, the police could not find the 4 guys in the park.

then about 7.20pm, someone rang from the police to say that the first time, the officers had indeed found the 4 guys, but because it is NOISE DISTURBANCE,
all the cops will? can? do is the tell the 4 guys to keep it down.

obviously after the poilce left, they couldn't give a shit and started again

when i asked about peeing in public, i was told that the officer must see it with his own eyes, before something can be done.

and a few minutes after i wrote the above, i heard shouting so went to the widow to have a look. my neighbor was being burgled. saw the thief take off on a bicycle. and the police are here now.
the neighbour says they heard the thief talking in THAI

Is there a need to go down stairs ? Can't you call the police from where you are staying ? Why risk your own safety ?

If you are living in an area infested with foreign workers, you have to be mentally prepared to expect such things on a sporadic basis. Don't be a brain-washed sinkie thinking that our country is as clean and pristine as before.

I have long give up on them when I saw 1st hand how 'efficient' they were in attending an urgent call by my former neighbour.. Happened around 3 years ago..

Me, my neighbour and few of our neighbourhood kakis took matters in our own hands by bashing up that bastard under the block while waiting for the cops to arrive..

in any case , i have been brought with the accusation that i don't have a full time job so i am being a show off when i try to do my civic duty and i who have no connections etc to my name should just shut up...im just being a nuisance when i call the police etc.... may be hard for you to believe but true

Sounds like my mom. In the past every time I speak about things not right and how it should be (the righteous way) she'd say in teochew to me "don't act smart" Through all these, so I just happen to go with the flow and nothing constuctive or noble ever got done. Gotta stand up, speak out and act right man! I encourage my kid to be vocal and to make herself known whenever she feels she needs to be heard. It's a different generation and time. You did the right thing by calling the cops. Their benign reaction isn't your fault, they're just humans. Keep it up, one day, it might work.

he detectives are still here gathering info my from neighbors. its just occurred to me that the best place for the thief to get rid of the computer is sungei rd.i went to speak to the cops and was told that actually in this area, sungei rd is not the only place !!!!!!

apparently he didn't get the CPU, only the monitor.....
