Everything as per normal like the good old days, as I drove for the past 3 days across Chinese cities, (still toll free 高速公路 alike CNY 春运 though) traffic jam at peak hours, minor accidents on road, crowd crossing roads (wearing masks) children playing in every parks...
Most businesses OPEN as usual now. I went to massage twice, ate countless good meals at restaurants. KTV bars are the last recent things opening. They cleaned up and stock up alcohol drinks now - had been closed for more than a month.
Foot spas, nail spas, shark fin dinner served in 包厢rooms... all opened for about a week.
There is no more COVID road block with protection suit covered 公安 & thermometers. Thermometers scanners are at malls / office towers / public offices / work places still scanning people. You go to petrol station to pump up they will also scan your temperature.
CHINESE PEOPLE ARE SPENDING BIG NOW!
Why? Their CNY spending budget still not yet spent and they had been bored for more than a month already! They called this 报复性消费 (vengeance spending)， which they said had been seeing similar strong spending after e.g. 汶川地震， any major flood / ponding / earth quakes.
That means they prepared sum of money for spending to enjoy themselves during CNY, but were prevented to spend by COVID-19, and did not have any such chance to spend. Now just came the chance - OK! That's it! Go enjoy themselves like nuts, celebrate their survival from COVID-19! Celebrate Victory from overcoming COVID-19. 恭喜发财 belated CNY celebration just came!
The malls and restaurants and entertainment business are packed and over-booked.
Parking lots are full alike CNY, no fucking space! Must park illegally!
