Nevertheless, it mentions a rioting incident in Singapore in 1965 by Malaysian soldiers in Shenton Way, Singapore. Police and fire brigade vehicles were attacked and buildings were set on fire. Rioters, who were Malay Malaysians, were caught but later charges were dropped.
So, foreigners were spared even in 1965. Can those who remember this episode fill in the details. Thanks
