Any foreigner who imports his homeland's politics into Singapore will be thrown out.

Period.

We don't want Foreign Talent/Trash politics in Singapore.

FT's can balek kampong and start a revolution if they are so brave, I don't care.

But if you drag Singapore into your foreign kampong politics, I will throw you out
.

the trouble is: at the beginning, the burmese were in a way allowed to protest in their FREE BURMA until the police dispersed them. all obliged peacefully (unlike those from the SDP).

they only pinpointed the more outstanding protestors namely the marked 6 brumese. if there were to be arrest in the first place, then the 6 would be arrested...again like the 18 SDP protestors.

in this case, they were let off - maybe with some stern warnings but no arrest. and now their stay permit was rescinded and they faced imminent repatriation.

doesn't the way of procedures carry out in this manner defeat a "gentleman" attitude? there wasn't any prudent reason given and i thought singapore do support FREE BURMA stance.:(

Allowing or supporting foreign protests here is an act of interfering with foreign politics. If unrestrained, soon Coleman Street will be jammed with protesters who're getting nowhere and stopping us from getting anywhere in our already small island. Others may take the cue, e.g. Thais may want to jam up Beach Road and Bangleshis/Pakistanis/Indians may want to jam up Serangoon Road.

What to do next? Set up ERP gantries for protesters? Or let's go over to Yangon to counter protest that the Burmese are protesting here?

Human rights and compassionate grounds are benevolent things good to have and to show, yes. But mutual respect for sovereignty is even more important in international relationships, both between countries and between people.

Singapore is not the land of bleeding heart liberals.

We had even thrown Viet refugees back into the South China sea in their leaking boats.......back in 1975 to 1979

How many refugees died at the hands of Singapore?

No sir.......we are cold bloodedly efficient. Period.

It's strange that the Burmese are not prosecuted for protesting in Singapore, unlike Singaporeans who have been hauled up before LKY's kangaroo courts!!

Putting them up in Spore prison would further waste taxpayer's money. It is best that we deport them. Furthermore mixing them with the criminals in CP could aggravate the matter -- more politically-charged common criminals would emerge from the gates.

The Burmese are cowards, just like the average peasant here. (that's why my masters must rule them with an iron hand)

Only have the courage to protest OUTSIDE their country. And begging foreign governments for help. If they have any balls in them, they should establish resistance groups and overthrow the junta. See how patriotic they are then!
