There is a call for a push for productivity by LSS of NTUC as our productivity rate is falling. Last year 0%. Previous year is -2%. In order for real wage grow i think businesses should heed what LSS is saying to opt for change. Real wages can only be raised if there is productivity. What is happening to other countries will happen to us soon if we dont buck up.

Weak UK productivity cited as main reason for falling wages - FT.com

Productivity has been much slower to pick up than after past recessions. This has resulted in employment rising faster than forecast, but real wages have continued to fall.

Employers have expanded output by hiring extra workers, rather than investing in labour-saving technology or squeezing more efficiency out of their existing staff.

MiniSTARS should increase their productivity
For a start they should ALL speak proper English
Whoever pronounces “l” instead of “r” or vice versa
Should be sacked for that and policy blunders

Chicken and egg.

If you want productivity, stop artificially depressing the people's wages.

Employers hiring alot of workers artificially suppressing wages is Governments fault lo. Good good very good.

I wonder why Government is trying to persuade companies to innovate and boost their productivity without relying on intensive labour. Weird.

I think you got the formula wrong.

People's wages are variable cost and can be lowered
Most other things are fixed cost and it stays fixed

Productivity is a way to make sure that your cost is lowered. You cannot lower fixed cost, so you lower variable cost.

The people are already overworked and underpaid. Asking them to increase productivity at this point is an insult to them.

If anything, they should lower their productivity and not work so hard.

Working hard is way overrated...wahtever happened to working smart, breezing through your day and fucking off at 6.

NTUC and the 'tripartite labour movement'... that's what happened.

There is nothing mythical or chim about this matter. Just pay the workers an reasonable wage. $7.50/hr for retail staff is clearly not fair.

You can pay workers any amount of money, but if their pay is not keeping up with inflation something is terribly wrong about how you're planning the economy.

The "fook" productivity thing I have been hearing since 1984....if we measure those running the country on the productivity scale...many would have been sacked a long time ago.....especially LSS..

Really ah? maybe WP MPs also should be sacked for doing nothing since LSS made Government implement progressive wage for low wage workers.. What has WP Mps do? workers party not doing anything for workers. What a joke.
