THE Ministry of Education is currently investigating a secondary school principal over allegations that he had breached some of the ministry's procedures and abused his position. It is understood that the principal, from a school in the east, may not have followed proper procedure in hiring external vendors. The principal, who is believed to have been with the school for about three years now, is also accused of 'intimidating' some of his staff members.
When contacted yesterday, the Ministry of Education (MOE) would only say that one of its principals had been redeployed to its headquarters. The spokesman would only say 'the case was under review'. The Straits Times understands that the principal allegedly hired a friend as a 'consultant' for his school without going through the proper procedure of calling for quotations.
