Prince William is leaving his post as a military pilot to focus on royal duties and charity work, Kensington Palace announced today.

The 31-year-old new dad — who flew airplanes for the Royal Air Force Search and Rescue Force — will move with his family from Anglesey, Wales to Kensington Palace in coming weeks, according to the London’s Daily Mirror.

“His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge is to leave operational service in the Armed Forces…after seven-and-a-half years of full-time military service,” Kensington Palace said in a statement.

“The Duke will work closely over the next 12 months with the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. He will expand his work in the field of conservation, particularly in respect of endangered species,” the statement notes.

The Duke of Cambridge will still carry out his official royal duties and will make a “public service announcement” about the change in the coming months, according to the Website.

He will also work with charities that focus on children, veterans and members of the armed forces, according to the statement.
