With air-conditioned suites and plush couches, the building looks almost like a luxury hotel.

But the visitors touring these facilities do not have to worry about check-out times. They are elderly Singaporeans taking part in an unusual day trip - to a columbarium.

Almost every weekend, senior citizens from community centres are loaded into buses and driven to Nirvana Memorial Gardens on Old Choa Chu Kang Road.

There, they witness a 'departure ceremony' involving smoke, lasers and chanting meant to depict the departed soul's journey to paradise

believe it or not, pls do not spread your ash in the sea. our ash has lots of heavy metal and elements that are bad for the fishes.
