PRC student calls Singaporeans ‘PIGS’ and hurls insults at Malay community

In a thread titled in Chinese “Singapore is a brain-dead holy place to die”, PRC student “litong2865″ ranted at Singaporeans:

“The entire Singapore is like a gathering of rubbish, got Malay xxx, Indian xxx…”

(整个sgp就是个垃圾聚集地，马来x，印尼x，印度阿三。)

He also called on PRC students studying in Singapore to return to China:

“PRC students here should switch to other countries or return to China, don’t increase their GDP…Singapore pigs look down on PRC Chinese. They are only interested to earn your money…”

(趁早chn留学生早点换别的国家或者回国，别增加了他们国民生产总值末了还要捞个中国人都是垃圾的称号。sgp猪根本也都看不起中国人，他们感兴趣的就是赚你的钱，国内好多公司都不接受sgp留学生的。)

His rant was apparently shared by many PRC netizens who applauded him for it with one of them even thanking him for helping him speak his ‘inner thoughts’.

According to his profile, ‘litong2865′ is a student staying in a school hostel in Jurong:

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has earlier urged Singaporeans not to target immigrants because of the comments made by Sun Xu:

”You look at the Sun Xu incident, he shouldn’t have made that blog post. He did. He has been chastised. He has been disciplined……And I think we should accept that. We should have been able to move on from that and deal with it as one person who mis-spoke…We should not, because of one incident, make that into an issue, (to say) all immigrants are like that.”

Judging from the responses from some PRC netizens on the forum, it does appear that there is quite a number of immigrants who share the same sentiments as Sun Xu.

PRC scholar Sun Xu called Singaporeans dogs. Brian Tan thinks that Singaporeans behave like babies and that we are weak and lazy. Lai Shimun ranted against a minority race and ask them to get their own form of transport because of their smell.

Is this an ugly side of human nature or is this island too small for 5 million people? Such outbursts is a reflection that residents of this tiny island can barely contain the anger and frustration of living in a costly and overcrowded city filled with an immigration population that is sometimes not very concerned about the well-being of this island but more worried about how to make big bucks quickly.

However, we must also remember that there were as many “racists” in our past, if not more, as our parents and parents’ parents are generally less well-educated and are sometimes misinformed regarding issues dealing with race. This phenomenon of racism or locals vs FT can also be part attributed to the rise of social media and internet as a alternative source of news.

In fact, even supposedly public figures see it hard to control and contain themselves. Former WP and NSP leader Abdul Salim Harun ranted against what was two PRC nationals in a train on his Facebook. Calling them ‘locusts’, he lamented that ‘he did not have insecticide with him as he could no longer stand the sight of them.’ It was not known if the PRC nationals did anything to annoy him. Abdul Salim admitted that he was mean but he needed to let off some steam.

Abdul Salim was Nicole Seah’s team-mate in NSP’s attempt at the Marine Parade GRC in GE2011. In GE2006, he was one of the suicide candidates in a WP team, led by allegedly casanova Yaw Shin Leong, that contested in Ang Mo Kio GRC.

According to a website, Abdul Salim is “currently working as a warehouse assistant at a logistics company in Woodlands, Salim aspires to represent and speak up for the working class, especially blue-collar workers, when elected to Parliament. He hopes to be the voice of the workers, the voice for all Singaporeans and to be the humble servant of the people.”
