PRC PR student - serve NS? no la, I will cancel my PR and come back later, dear

STOMPer JT came across an online posting by a China national who is now a Singapore Permanent Resident (PR). The secondary school student said in his post that he plans to leave the country without serving his National Service (NS).

The STOMPer elaborates:

"I came across this facebook post by a teenage China national who is now a PR.

"He is currently studying in a local secondary school.

"I am extremely appalled by his attitude towards his permanent residency status in Singapore.

"He apparently does not like Singapore and wishes to leave without serving National Service (NS).

"Are these the kind of immigrants that Singapore has in its midst?

"The Singapore Government should seriously review its immigration policies to prevent the influx of foreigners who are merely here to benefit from our education system and then leave for greener pastures.

"What is even more shocking is that his Singaporean friend agreed with his views and also wants to leave Singapore.

"Perhaps the Government should also review the National Education curriculum in schools so as to foster a greater sense of belonging among Singaporeans to the country as well as emphasise the importance of NS to the country."

The sad and hard truth is that no one with half a brain will be migrating to Sinkandpoor to settle down permanently. Even if they do, they will ensure they have an escape route handy. Think about it from the perspective of a foreigner. Why would you want to condemn yourself and your future generations to a tiny island whose future is extremely uncertain? They are here only because of economic benefits and a warm welcome from the government. They know this full well and thus, will not hesitate to demand what they deem should be given to them. The government has already told them that without them, Sinkandpoor will collapse. Don't delude yourselves any longer, Sinkandpoor is a city not a country.

They want the govt to educate the PRs but how many born and bred sinkies recognise the "importance of NS to the country".
