The recent news of SMRT PRC bus drivers going on strike in Singapore is being carried by more portals and websites in China. A quick check on the Net shows that some of the major portal sites like Sina have already picked up the news since yesterday (26 Nov) when the PRC drivers went on strike.
Almost all the headings use the term “罢工” which means going on strike:

Not surprisingly, many of their countrymen are supportive of the action by the PRC drivers in Singapore. Many have displayed disdain for Singapore. Some of the discussions by Chinese nationals on their popular Chinese portal Sina include:
“罢工是应该的,这也是一种歧视,就应该同工同酬!”
Should go on strike. This is a form of discrimination. Should be equal pay for equal work!
“新加坡就是一个瘪三国家”
Singapore is a tramp country
“新加坡一直就是亲美反中的”
Singapore has always been the pro-US and anti-China
“支持中国人”
(I) support the Chinese people
“回来吧弟兄 国内有的是发展空间”
Come back brothers, plenty of opportunities back home
“派人民海军去把他灭了!”
Sent the People’s Navy to finish (Singapore) off!

“新加坡就是反华的敌对国”
Singapore is an anti-China hostile country

“支持中国工人的维权行动!”
Support for the action by Chinese workers to defend their rights!
“该争取的就要去争取”
Should fight for what is yours
“新加坡人本来就歧视中国人”
Singaporeans always discriminate against the Chinese people
It is not known if the industrial action by SMRT PRC drivers will be copied by other foreigners working in Singapore. Many of them are being exploited for cheap labour by Singapore employers so as to maximize profits.

Even some of the MNCs are also getting into the act by paying very low salaries to foreign workers. For examples, it has been reported that Panasonic only pays $500 a month for their foreign production workers (‘Over 100 PRC workers at Panasonic’s Singapore start a petition‘).

What's the point of hiring foreigners if you have to pay them the same wage?

The whole idea of hiring foreign nationals is to reduce labour costs.

Cheap foreign labour doesn't just benefit large companies and cooperations. EVERY SINGLE SINKIE that hires a full time live in maid and pays her peanuts is on the same bandwagon.

Sinkees still pay high fares despite the cheap foreign labor. Cost reduction? If sinkees don't have to pay that much for HDB prisons, they could accept wages comparable to the PRC workers.

Aside, I am surprised you made a mistake - cooperations instead of CORPORATIONS.

The fares would be a lot higher if it were not for cheap foreign labour. In Auckland, it costs $10 bucks to get to down and back by bus and that's with a council subsidy. If the subsidies were to be removed, it would probably be double the price.

In Singapore, I can book a taxi for the same price.

OR, instead of Auckland, you can compare to manila where you can get to town in jeepneys for less than 50c.

That's because there's more sheeps than and humans in NZ, and sheeps don't take bus. The human are spread out too thin, so ridership is low.

Sinkieland bus fare not exactly cheap given the population density. Too much cost eaten up by high management salaries, not to mention yearly dividends to shareholders.

The plural of "sheep" is "sheep". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_plural#Irregular_plurals

Let's compare Singapore with Sydney then as Sydney has a similar population. http://www.131500.com.au/tickets/fares/all-fares#mybus

You should thank the SMRT for making every effort to keep overheads as low as possible. If these Chink fuckers are causing problems, I say deport the whole damned lot and get some other 3rd world cheap labour to take their place.

Look at Hong Kong, more comparable

Not blaming smrt. The blame is squarely on pap for insisting on making fat profits off public transport services and ridiculously high pay for executives running these public services. Not to mention duopoly protection.

"Free" my ass. It's funded by the astronomical council rates.

Be very wary of the word "free" anywhere in the Western world. All it means is that the costs have been pre paid by someone else.
So my point that sg bus service is not exactly cheap is still valid.

If sg bus drivers are paid a little more, bus company executives are paid a more normal salary, and the public transport company be managed on zero profit basis, I think everyone will be happier.

There is no need for highly talented executives to manage public buses. Where's the complexity?

New chinese leadership will come down very hard on Singapore. They will make it difficult for Singaporeans to come do business or work in china. Wonderful opportunity to rally the people behind them. Singapore and Singaporeans will feel the wrath of the new Chinese leadership. Just watch.

And then sinkies can reveal which top officials and their family have SPR and secret bank accounts in sinkie banks? Everyone has skin in the game, and this case does not warrant such a drastic move from china. It's not like Chinese workers here got cheated and badly beaten up. The Chinese netizens are famous for spouting extreme views.
