This piece of lard will get the Affordable Mah treatment (from successor Msian Cow) when next EP comes in. Only then we will get detailed confirmation of what this piece of lard has cost us, besides $$$$$$$$$$$$$.
He has never ever uttered a word which provides consolation or encouragement. The best he ever did was to recite DESIDERATA on TV in some TV charity show. I have no idea why he accepted the job in the first place. He worked mainly in Intelligence and when he retired he became the Govt appointed watchdog in SPH. Though he was an Ambassdor to Malaysia and the US, these are not considered as achievements by any means or standards. The end result is a presidency that was remembered for all the wrong reasons. Both elections were by default which made it even worse.
Everything in his character points to a loyal lieutenant. Not an inspiring leader nor someone who can grace the highest office and give it appropriate sheen. His weight too became a talking point.
I honestly can't what they the Cabinet nor the old man saw in him. His son is useless and the daughter got her post after someone was thrown at short to make way for him. And she has been sitting in that organisation all her life.
Wee Kim Wee, Sheares and even Ishak did not have a high profile in public life prior to the presidency but all 3 have it a gloss that was very clear and quite tangible. In fact you could sense that people would readily identify with them. Never heard a single derogatory word being mentioned about them.
Quite bizarre how Nathan after all these years seem to think that he is popular and even worse no one even his own family seem to care what people thought of them.
