Five youths have been arrested over the stabbing incident two days ago.
One of the victims, 17-year-old Anand (age 17), a student from Raffles Institution, remains in the high dependency ward in hospital.
The other victim, Don (age 17), a student of St. Andrews Secondary School, got away with a black eye and very much wishes to apologise to his badly injured friend.
Don had supposedly caused the staring incident, having glanced at the aggressive youths in the Mcdonald's restaurant at Potong Pasir.
The two teens were confronted by the aggressive youths outside the eatery, where one of them pushed Don with his elbow.
In retaliation, Don punched the youth.
The two teens, Don and Anand, were later ambushed at a nearby HDB block by a group of knife-wielding youths.
During the confrontation, Don was punched in one eye as he shouted for his friend Anand to run.
The two teens attempted to take off in different directions but when Anand turned, he was stabbed in his back by one of the youths.
See an earlier report on the incident here.
Don believes that he was the real target sought by the youths and feels bad that his friend got stabbed instead.
He wishes to apologise to his friend and had visited Anand in the hospital several times yesterday, but Anand remained unconscious during the visits.
Anand's father, a lawyer, is very angry and upset over the attack which left his son badly injured and hooked up to innumerable tubes.
A knife had pierced Anand's lung in the attack.
Meanwhile, five of the youths involved in the attack have been arrested and were charged in court today.
Aged between 15 to 18 years old, the five youths appeared relaxed, and even joked and bantered with one another as they faced their charges.
Two teen girls involved in the attack are still on the run from the law.
If found guilty, the youths may face up to 10 years' jail and caning.
