possible to make thumbdrive read only?

is it possible to disable a normal thumbdrive to become read only?
i have used my thumdrive on my office pc.
after that, all the folders in my thumdrive become shortcut.
when i click on the shortcut,it say folder not found.
when i click on properties, the total space used up is 1.2gb which is correct.
also i find 1 file name called "fakerica"which dont belongs to me.

i want to make my thumdrive read only,only when i enter password, it allow me write access.
is it possible?

any experts can advise?

Buy an SD card with a SD reader instead. All SD cards have a lock switch.

Olden floppy disc with the lock feature can still be unlocked, so can still sabotage.

I do not know about setting your thumbdrive as read-only, but I do know that your thumbdrive has been infected with either a virus or malware. The folder "fakerica" is the infection file/folder. Also, I do know of a way to retrieve your original files.
