good points to ask.
the company expects you (the EA) to take over his role (engineer)
did they get you to sign any documents..that is the key role.
any important documents mis sign blindly by engineer is liability in court.
Assist engineer only assist the work.
engineer have to check before signing.
example the nicoll highway collapse..some engineer will be behind bar,not just being sacked and settle liao
btw..what is the difference between
assistant engineer / Engineering Asst / associate engineer
FYI, all the Engineers, senior engineers, assts are FTs. I am the only 2 sinkie Asst there.
they picked me to cover the Engineer is becos I am a veteran in this area of work, and also being more responsible in work then all the FTs.
Why i rejected to cover the Engineer duty is that by right they should ask other Engineer that is off duty to cover the shift and pay them OT. But this neow BIG MNC want to save cost so they asked me to take over the role during my shift when the Engineer is on MC, etc. We need not sign any document as the Engineer just need to ensure the operation runs smoothly, shift per shift.
Another reason why I refusedto cover is becos HR already rejected to pay me e.g $3k indicating that EA post is worth2.5K.. so why should I take 2.5k and do a 3k+ job.
I am not sure how the company, our boss, HR view this ? Will they sack me or blackmark me ?
For your question of what is the diff of AE, EA and Associatre Engineer, hmm my quote is just a example..our actual title is not these.
However I have been a Engineering Asst b4, this title is commonly used in the manufacturing sector for diploma holders.
Asst Engineer likely is a degree holder with lesser yrs of exp than Engineer, also can be a diploma holder with more yrs of exp.
Associate Engineer i think is something in between Asst Engineer and ENgineer, but used in other sector
