A pornographic image was displayed repeatedly in the middle of a boring charter amendment debate in parliament yesterday afternoon.
The photo of a young Asian girl wearing only a shirt and sitting with her legs spread, touching her genitals, suddenly appeared on a 55-inch plasma screen to the left of the House speaker about 3pm while Democrat Party MP Pirapan Salirathavibhaga was speaking.
The picture appeared three times and lasted about five seconds each time, replacing pictures of the chamber. Shocked House officials eventually turned off all the screens.
Khamphi Ditthakorn, deputy secretary-general of the House who supervises parliament's AV system, said that the four, 55-inch plasma displays in the debating chamber are Wi-Fi enabled.
He noted that any of the numerous visitors to parliament yesterday could have hacked into the system.
The pornographic image appeared on only one closed-circuit television in the debating chamber, Mr Khamphi said.
If it had been a mistake by a parliament official, the picture would have appeared on all four displays, he added.
