One other thing about this 'bad dressing'. I notice in Parleement, the MPs just wear long sleeve and pants, no tie and no suit. In ang mor lands, the MPs are dress full suit and tie, its to show the profession and the respect for the office. Even in the PMs national day rally speech people wear chin chai. The gahmen like that, the people sure follow,,,I mean earn millions wear chin chai,,than those earn 2K have to wear tie etc,,,follow also stupid..

I was told that The PAP chose these dressing 'down' to show they are with the common people. I think this is a BS explanation. They just fucking lazy and cheap,,,but of course earn the big bucks for themselves lah...the MPs wear simply,,but they are even more atas than Mount Olympus...

Sinkies think wearing branded clothing is well dressed liao....
That's why you see guys wearing t shirt shorts and sandals (all branded of course) EVERYWHERE.
And underdressed office guys who like to blame on hot weather...
Should visit hk or Japan in summer and see how the office workers there dress....all smartly suited up.

I blame the poor dressing sense on NS. Everything must be standardized, number 4 uniform or PT kit.

Consequently, after all that conditioning in the military no one wants to stand out, afraid of looking like a metrosexual/gay or attracting unwanted attention from gangsters, criminals and fraudsters.

In a sense, dressing down is an instinctual method of self-defense. You'll find less people pestering you on the streets to do a survey, donate money or so a facial/massage when you are dressed down.

I don't consider myself an FT in Thailand because the Thai government don't give me special privileges unlike PAP to FTs. I dress like a pauper I have to admit but then I no need to dress well to get something its the other way round normally people come see me will dress very well.

That's great. No shame dressing poorly by the way. At the end of the day what matters is you get the job done. No pride in dressing well too if its all appearance but no substance. Hooyah!

watching the movie "hawaii". when the ang moh ship arrived in maui, naked natives swarmed the ship with catamarans. native women were all topless, and they tried to get on the ship. ang moh women on ship covered their eyes while men were staring with dropped jaws. the movie was true to the book. stupid calvinist minister tried to convert natives to christianity and get all native women to wear coconuts. if christianity left hawaiian natives as they were, we would all be looking at big bare boobs today. that would have been perfect for the tropical climate.

Being away from the country and reading endless complains about FTs “stealing” away jobs from sinkies made me wonder how this could happen especially sinkies are hard working and highly educated.

Then yesterday at the busy Buona Vista MRT Station I saw the answer and its sinkies are poorly dressed compared to FTs who’re “dress to kill”. Certainly appearance is important and sinkies may think they are dressed appropriately but appropriately is not enough it has to be dressed to kill bang bang bang from head to toe.

Now that you know stop whining, get up, go to ZARA now!

The most important thing is dress for the occasion. In spore we do not really dress that well for the occasion. Even office wear etc, singkies have a tendency take short cuts...for the weekend go hawker centres etc,,wear shorts and t-shirt n slippers can also,,,
