Police officer fined for fighting <!--10 min-->

</td></tr> <!-- show image if available --> </tbody></table> <!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--> AN OFF-duty police officer who exchanged blows with a man for cutting into a queue at a Sengkang supermarket landed himself a $1,000 fine on Thursday. Senior Staff Sergeant Koh Kian Boon, 35, was standing in line at the checkout counters in the NTUC FairPrice outlet in Rivervale Mall last April with his wife and daughter just before the altercation. When bus driver Lim Keng Siang, 44, cut in in front of him in the queue, it sparked off a row. The dispute escalated into a fight, with the pair pushing, grabbing and punching each other. A retail assistant managed to separate the two men and called the police.
Koh, who is with the Police Coast Guard, was unhurt, but Lim had a cut on his finger. Police officers took a video footage of the incident from the store's security cameras. In mitigation, Koh's lawyer, Mr Chandra Mohan, said his client was 'trying to assist his wife and child'. The lawyer also asked for a lighter sentence, since his client's career would already have been affected by this incident.
