Friday, I was walking along a corridor on my way out when one neighbor called to me. It was 70 yr old auntie. I asked her how I could help her. She told me one of dental filling fell out and it was painful when she eats. Her leg not very good so she gave me $5 and asked me to go to the Chinese medicine shop to get some toothache ointment on my way, the type poor people use when their tooth hurts - a few drops kills the pain. I told her better see a dentist otherwise tooth might get infected. Private dentist usually poor folks cannot afford but polyclinic, while expensive, still manageable. She say don't know how to call to make appointment as she didn't speak English. I went into her house to use the phone to call.

1st Tampines Polyclinic ....operator told me 9 months wait earliest appointment in June 2013.

Next Bedok Polyclinic ....operator told me 9 months wait earliest appointment in June 2013.

Next Queensway Polyclinic ....operator told me 9 months wait earliest appointment in Jul 2013.

IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE THIS UNBELIEVABLE FACT CALL 63553000 to try to make an appointment.

Like this is world class healthcare. Poor old folks to get a tooth fix have to wait 9 ..b_loody months. What is this?!!!! Mine I get done when I go to Johor once in a while, the private clinic there is cheaper than our polyclinic and have 1-2 days waiting time, no appointment walk in also can. But the auntie already 70+yrs old, very hard to take bus all the way to Johor to get her treatment. I have no choice but to fork out my own money to help her get treatment at nearby Q&M clinic next week (I check the cost at the clinic $80-$180, depending on whether complications such as tooth break when dentist try to pull out)- but I cannot help every single old person too poor to afford private dental treatment.

This RICHEST country in the world...and our old folks have to suffer this when they have no money. Why we need NATIONAL CONVERSATION to talk and talk to find out what to do?! Fix your polyclinic ISN'T SUCH THINGS OBVIOUS to FIX. Imagine you're old and need treatment, it is a very basic human need, THIS ALSO CANNOT FULFILL in the richest country in the world...NATIONAL CONVERSATION FOR WHAT!!!!!

I welcome all of you to call the polyclinic to find out the truth about the situation for poor people seeking dental care. THIS IS BASIC FAILURE.

All the MIWs busy making money for their families no time to govern this country properly.

you can ask for "emergency treatment"

else my suggestion is goto Q&M. they r not expensive compared to dental center.

I asked her how I could help her. She told me one of dental filling fell out and it was painful when she eats.

Even the strongest man in the world cannot bear the excruciating pain of toothache for 1 week let alone a 70 yrs old auntie having to bear for 9 months. Such dental healthcare is totally unacceptable!

I thot standard is dental check up every 6 months. Like that the national health system is not even meeting its own standard!
