Policeman held over rape of foreign worker
BY NATASHA JOIBI
KUALA LUMPUR: It was supposed to be another “routine” round-up of ille*gal foreigners until a policeman allegedly raped a 29-year-old Indonesian cleaner under police custody.
It is learnt that the police lance corporal, 27, had raided the woman’s home in Bandar Baru Bangi following a tip-off that there were illegal foreigners staying there on Tuesday night.
The Indonesian woman and her female housemate were detained for not having valid identification documents.
The woman’s husband was spared as his documents were in order.
A police source revealed that the woman and her housemate were then taken to the Kajang district police headquarters.
Instead of holding the detainees in the police headquarters, however, the lance corporal brought the woman to a budget hotel nearby.
He then demanded sex in exchange for her freedom.
“Our investigations revealed that the woman initially refused the officer’s advances, but was forced into giving in to him out of fear of being thrown into jail.
“The policeman released her shortly after the alleged rape,” said the source, adding that the woman lodged a police report on Wednesday.
It was also revealed that the policeman had been arrested and the case classified under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
“The policeman has been working in the police force for seven years and is married with two children,” said the source.
